Is call to Salat and intention of reciting the Salat, one
of the features of Salat, like abolution, which is required in preparation to do
Salat? Since Quran is fully detailed, we will look in the Quran for guidance.
Indeed we know from the Quran and it is also widely
practice the call to Friday prayers the Salat Al-Jummu’ah, please read the
confirmation of this fact in the following verse;
62
9
O you who believe when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is
announced on Friday you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD and drop all
business. This is better for you if you only knew.
So we have established a fact that call to Salat is
practiced for Friday prayers, but it does not mean that call to Salat or
intension of doing Salat apply to all Salats, does it? To answer this question
we look further in the Quran.
In the Light of the
Quran:
There is a verse in the Quran which encourages believers to
look at the situations in the “light” of the Quran, whenever; there is no
obvious solution for that situation. Please read the following verse;
5
101 O you who believe do not
ask about matters which if revealed to you prematurely would hurt you. If you
ask about them in (light) of the Quran they will become obvious to you. GOD has
deliberately overlooked them. GOD is Forgiver Clement.
*Missing word “light” or Ad’a gv 802. 101 802 = 5358 x 19
the temporal connection suggests that this is historic event, and when you look
at the context of the verse if asked prematurely .i.e. when the Quran was not
revealed fully yet (in Muhammad’s time) or when one has not read and understood
the Quran fully. Both these instances refers to past. **Al-Muzzammil
Indeed in a scenario where the questions arise if one have
to make intentions to do Salat throughout the day? One has to comply with
(5:101). We know there is announcement of Friday Salat and we are told in
(5:101) that we should follow the trend, therefore putting two and two together
it makes sense that we should announce our intentions of doing Salat. The
intension to do Salat should in the form of announcement and it should be done
in a medium tone. One might ask why in medium tone? This is because we are told
to read Salat in moderate tone, and following (5:101) we follow the trend.
Because call to Salat is to do with Salat, and Salat is read in the moderate
tone, we should do call to Salat the same way;
17
110
Say "Call Him GOD or call Him the Most Gracious; whichever name you use
to Him belongs the best names." You shall not utter your Contact Prayers (Salat)
too loudly nor secretly; use a moderate tone.
Does the Call to Salat or
intent to do Salat have to be silent?
The announcement is important in two different situations
one, when one is leading group prayers the imam makes the announcement, while
the group stay silent and follows and the second situation is when one is doing
Salat all alone. The question is why does one have to announce intentions of
doing Salat when one is alone? One can argue that the person doing the Salat
knows what Salat he/she is about to do!!! The reason for announcing Salat in
this situation is important because there are external entities about. I mean
Jinn believers who we cannot see but they can see and hear us. For the purpose
of letting these entities know what Salat one is about to do, it is imperative
to announce the Salat.
Call to Salat:
We have successfully discussed and confirmed above that the
making of “Intension for Salat” is a valid proposition, now we need to establish
what exactly one has to say when making this “Intension”? Since call to Jummu’ah
prayers is only mention in (62:9) and nowhere else in the Quran and we know
Quran is fully detailed (10:37), we can safely assume that all the details are
already in the worldly dimensions about this call.
10
37 This Quran
could not possibly be authored by other than GOD. It confirms all previous
messages and provides a fully detailed scripture. It is infallible for it comes
from the Lord of the worlds.
So we look and copy the call made for Jummu’ah prayers done
by the majority of Muslims with slight change. Since we are looking at this
“Call” in the light of the Quran based on the code and explanation regarding
(5:101) & (62:9) above .i.e. 9 101 = 479 X 19; and the Quran only prescribes
worship of God Alone, and specifically says in the Quran that only call upon God
when worshipping, we will take the mentioning of
“Muhammad” out of this “Call”, so that this “Call” is completely devoted
to God Alone;
72
18 The places of
worship belong to GOD; do not call on anyone else besides GOD.
Based on these facts the “Call” becomes;
Allah Hoakbar Allah Hoakbar La Ellaha Ella Allah after
saying that one has to make intentions clear by saying which Salat they are
about to read and how many Rakah that Salat consists of. For example for Fejr
Salat one would say;
Allah Hoakbar Allah Hoakbar La Ellaha Ella Allah 2 Rakah Salat Fejr.
