We should know what we are saying in the Salat [4:43]
O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while
intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying.
Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling;
if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or faecal-related excretion
(such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you
shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping
your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.
Therefore for non-Arabic speaking person the Salat could be read in English as a
start and then progress into Arabic, once one understand what is recited in the
Salat, therefore here is the Salat in English.
Normally after practice Salat could be recited from memory, however to
start with if you keep this document next to you while reading Salat and refer
to it while doing the Salat then it would be okay, God says in the Quran that
intentions are more important than the actions thus as long as your intentions
are genuine you cannot go wrong... [2:225]
GOD does not hold you responsible for the mere utterance of oaths; He
holds you responsible for your innermost intentions. GOD is Forgiver,
Clement.[4:81] They pledge
obedience, but as soon as they leave you, some of them harbour intentions
contrary to what they say. GOD records their innermost intentions. You shall
disregard them, and put your trust in GOD. GOD suffices as an advocate.
Do Abolition;
[5:6]
O you who believe, when you observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), you
shall: (1) wash your faces, (2) wash your arms to the elbows, (3) wipe your
heads, and (4) wipe your feet to the ankles. If you were unclean due to sexual
orgasm, you shall bathe. If you are ill, or travelling, or had any digestive
excretion (urinary, faecal, or gas), or had (sexual) contact with the women, and
you cannot find water, you shall observe the dry ablution (Tayammum) by touching
clean dry soil, then rubbing your faces and hands. GOD does not wish to make the
religion difficult for you; He wishes to cleanse you and to perfect His blessing
upon you, that you may be appreciative.
Find a clean area or use a praying mat.
Take off your shoes and stand on the mat hands on the sides facing SE depending
on where you are in some areas you might need to face west depending on your
geographical location but you need to face Kaaba
(Mecca in Saudi Arabia) the sacred Mosque. You take off your shoes because Salat
in Arabic means contact, this esoteric contact with God and there is an example
where Moses was spoken to by God (contact) and he had to take his sandals off
thus Muslims do the same when doing the Salat [20:12]
"I am your Lord; remove your sandals. You are in the sacred valley,
Tuwaa.[20:13] "I have chosen you, so
listen to what is being revealed.[20:14]
"I am GOD; there is no other god beside Me. You shall worship Me alone,
and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) to remember Me.
Steps in Salat as follows;
1)
Read Exibit a in standing positions with arms on side
2)
Read Exibit b in standing positions with arms on side
3)
Say “God is great” and bow down place your hands on your knees.
4)
While in this position say “Glory be to Lord the great”
5)
Say “God is great” and straighten yourself to standing position
6)
From standing position say “God is great” and prostrate on the mat
7)
While prostrating say “Glory be to Lord the Most High”
8)
Straighten yourself from prostration to sitting position
(kneeling position) while saying “God is
great”
9)
From the sitting position (kneeling
position) prostrate again saying “God is great”
10)
While in prostrate position say “Glory be to Lord the Most High”
11)
Stand up from this position while saying “God is great”
12)
This completes the first unit of two unit Salat, without a break do 2 to 10
steps as mentioned above and instead of standing up stay sitting and say exibit
c.
13)
This is completion of 2 unit (raka) which is Morning salat called Fajar, for
Noon prayers do 4 units exactly the same as above repeat all steps twice however
step 1 should only be read once at the start.
Afternoon prayers or Asr is read exactly like noon prayers, only the
intention changes.
14)
I would say start with these salat’s first and see how you get on...
